Senior Electrical Engineer Supervisor

Engineering Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology and/or equivalent experience and training.
- Proven track record of managing and motivating a team of direct reports, preferably three solid years of relevant experience in engineering management.
- Ability to operate in a team environment and communicate clearly to the intended audience.
- Ability to travel throughout North America to support project design and installations (~20% travel).
- Possess the knowledge and experience to recognize when problems surface or are looming, and proactively bring the correct people together to solve these problems.
- Represent the interests of Retrotech when dealing with customers and vendors.
- Ability to safely climb ladders, work at heights and navigate narrow catwalks.
Software Application Knowledge
- Design/Drafting software - AutoCad w/Electrical package
- Desktop software - Microsoft Word, Excel, Projects and Outlook
- Syteline Business System (Retrotech training as part of employee orientation)
- Ability to read and diagnose PLC code
Responsibilities:
Duties as a Supervisor
- Directs and coordinates all electrical engineering department activities. Lead, develop, and manage group of 5-10 electrical engineering.
- Assign work for all group members. Evaluate, plan and coordinate work loads and maintain proper utilization rates for all group members.
- Foster business climate that attracts and retains high quality people, including evaluating, coaching, and developing employees.
- Complete constructive performance evaluations for each group member.
- Assist in the development of the Engineering group, identify key indicators, drive continuous improvement efforts such as; current work load, future opportunities, staffing requirements, training requirements, review financial data, etc.
Duties as Electrical Engineer
- Research and develop electrical designs within the boundaries of the project work scope, schedule and budget. The principal control platform used at Retrotech is Programmable Logic Controllers, or PLC’s
- Follow industry, company and department standards and keep current as necessary
- Complete design efforts with appropriate and accurate design calculations and supporting information
- Produce and complete designs using AutoCad and AutoCad Electrical
- Produce and complete material lists and component specifications for purchasing
- Work in conjunction with other company departments and the customer when completing designs. Other departments will include sales, software engineering, manufacturing, and field installation
- Provide timely updates to project management for progress against scope, schedule and budget
- Travel to customer sites for engineering evaluations and inspections. Produce reports and recommendations based on these evaluations and inspections
- Assist in installation, testing, and de-bug of mechanical components
- Produce documentation for design basis based on project work scope
- Produce documentation for equipment operation, maintenance, vendor equipment, and training based on project requirements
- Other special duties as directed by the Engineering Manager
